The Numbers Game - January 27, 2013

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

MONTREAL – Here’s a numerical look at the Devils-Habs match-up at the Bell Centre on Sunday night.

4 – Number of personnel changes made to the Canadiens lineup for Sunday night’s game against the Devils with Max Pacioretty out after having an emergency appendectomy, and Lars Eller in to fill the void, and Yannick Weber stepping in for Tomas Kaberle after the Czech defenseman took a puck to the face in Saturday’s practice.

2 – Number of Giontas on the ice for Sunday’s game, as well as points separating them, as Brian and Stephen face off at the Bell Centre. The Habs captain leads his younger brother with three points in as many games after Stephen scored his first in the Devils’ last game against the Caps.

4 – Number of shots needed by Ryan White before he scored his first goal of the 2012-13 season for the Habs, with the gritty forward finding the back of the net for the first time since April 9, 2011.

7 – Number of combined games of experience shared by Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk with the rookies uniting their effort to beat Martin Brodeur in the first period. Galchenyuk set up Gallagher for his first NHL goal after Gallagher helped do the same for him two games ago against the Panthers.

4 – Number of periods that elapsed between Gallagher’s first assist on Galchenyuk’s first goal and Galchenyuk’s assist on Gallagher’s first goal.

31:41 – Amount of time elapsed in Sunday night’s game before Francis Bouillon shook the Bell Centre with a devastating hit on the Devils’ Mattias Tedenby, who may or may not remember the incident tomorrow morning.

502 – Number of players in Canadiens history that have scored at least one goal with the team after Brandon Prust and Brendan Gallagher both added their names to that list, lighting the lamp in Sunday’s tilt against the Devils.
