The Numbers Game - February 7, 2015

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

MONTREAL - Here's a numerical look at Saturday's game between the Canadiens and Devils at the Bell Centre.

1,073 – Number of days since Scott Gomez last skated on the Bell Centre ice. At the time still a member of the Canadiens, Gomez picked up an assist in what would be his final home game in Montreal – a 5-4 shootout win against the Minnesota Wild on March 1, 2012.

4 – Number of former Habs currently on the Devils roster, as Gomez, Michael Cammalleri and Dainius Zubrus all returned to the Bell Centre on Saturday, in addition to Michael Ryder, who was a healthy scratch. Unlike their Eastern Conference rivals, the Canadiens meanwhile count no former Devils on the roster this season.

42 – Number of career points Sergei Gonchar has registered against the Devils – leading all Habs in the category. The 40-year-old defenseman added to his total on Saturday with an assist on Tomas Plekanec’s second-period goal.

6 – Number of points P.K. Subban has registered at the expense of the Devils this season, racking up a second three-point outings opposite New Jersey after assisting on the Canadiens’ first three goals on Saturday.

15:01 – Time, in minutes, which elapsed between the Devils’ third and fourth shots of the night on Saturday. After Carey Price denied Martin Havlat 13:06 into the first, the Canadiens netminder would then have to wait until 1:55 into the second before being tested again.

3 – Number of power play goals the Canadiens buried behind Devils netminder Keith Kinkaid on Saturday, marking the third time the Habs achieved the feat this season following games against the Flyers and Blue Jackets on November 15 and January 14, respectively.
