The Numbers Game - Feb. 17, 2011

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
EDMONTON -- Here's a numerical look at the Canadiens-Oilers matchup at Rexall Place on Thursday.

1-Races won against his equipment by freshly-acquired Habs defenseman Paul Mara who arrived in Edmonton ahead of his gear, costing him the chance to suit up for his new/old team for the first time since being dealt from Anaheim.

30-Seconds needed before the first resounding chant of “Go Habs Go” was heard at Rexall Place on a night that featured an inordinate number of Canadiens jerseys in the crowd.

4-Shifts skated by James Wisniewski before he had to leave game after being struck in the face by a puck off the stick of Taylor Hall in the first period.

78-Percentage of faceoffs won by rookie David Desharnais to lead all Habs centermen on the night.

24-Banners hanging from the rafters at the Bell Centre to commemorate the Canadiens league-record haul of two dozen Stanley Cups.

23-Number of banners dangling from the rafters at Rexall Place in Edmonton where the five-time champion Oilers saw fit to also toast their division titles, conference crowns and President’s trophies.

10-Years since the Canadiens last picked up a win in Edmonton, dating back to when Brian Savage led the way with a goal and an assist for the Habs in a 3-2 victory over the Oilers.

Look familiar, Paul?
