by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
RALEIGH -- Here's a numerical look at the game between the Habs and the Hurricanes in Carolina on Thursday night.

365 – Number of days since the Canadiens broke the curse of Dec. 23, winning their first game on that date since 1945 by beating the Hurricanes in their own building by a score of 5-1.

9 – Number of times since the start of his career that Scott Gomez has taken part in a Dec. 23rd matchup. The Canadiens’ centerman who turns 31 today, has scored three goals along with six assists in games played on his birthday.

Highlights Canadiens - Hurricanes
7 – Consecutive number of games where the Canadiens have given up at least one goal over the course of the first period – a streak that was broken on Thursday night as both teams made their way to the dressing room tied at zero after 20 minutes.

5 – Number of shots the Hurricanes were held to in the first period – the lowest number the Habs have allowed after one period since holding the Senators to four in an Oct. 23 tilt at Scotiabank place.

8 – Number of Canadiens players who have hit the 10 assist mark so far this season after Jaroslav Spacek joined the group Thursday night, pitching in on Scott Gomez’s birthday goal.

3 – Number of goals that the Hurricanes’ Erik Cole had a hand in during Thursday night’s game, scoring on Carey Price and then getting a 5-minute-major seconds later that would lead to the Habs potting two more on the power-play.

4 – Number of Montreal Canadiens who have lit the lamp 10 or more times this season, with Andrei Kostitsyn being the latest Hab to make double-digits after watching the last game from the press-box.

6 – Number of games this season in which the Canadiens have scored at least two power-play goals, putting up a record of 4-1-1 over those games.

3 – Number of times this season in which the Hurricanes have failed to win a game after scoring the first goal, putting up a record of 10-1-2 when they do.
