The Numbers Game - Dec. 2, 2008

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL - Here’s a numerical look at the Canadiens-Thrashers tilt on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.

3-Games needed for Matt D’Agostini to score his first NHL goal, with the 22-year-old having suited up for one game with the Habs in 2007-08 before being called up last week.

189-Players chosen before D’Agostini at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, with Montreal selcting the scrappy winger in the sixth round that year.

34-Career points piled up by Robert Lang in 21 games against the Thrashers.

9-Consecutive games against Atlanta and counting in which Lang has picked up a point, with the veteran center piling up 19 points over that span.

10-Years since the Habs last lost on December 2.  It was on this day in 1998 that they dropped a decision to the Hurricanes. Montreal is 3-0-1 since that loss to Carolina.

5-Consecutive games the Canadiens have picked up at least a point in the standings against Atlanta.

5-Points amassed by Andrei Kostitsyn over his last two games, with the Belarusian winger also earning the No. 1 star on each of those nights.

8-Times in his career that Andrei Markov has scored a goal in consecutive games.

8-Canadiens wins this season that have come by a one-goal margin.
