The Numbers game - April 19, 2010

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL– Here’s a numerical look at Game 3 between the Habs and the Caps at the Bell Centre on Monday  night.

10 – Number of Canadiens players who got their first taste of playoff hockey as members of the home team at the Bell Centre on Monday night.

1 – Number of shots fired by the Capitals on their first two power plays combined in the first period, the same number as the Habs had on the PK in the opening frame.

75 – Faceoff efficiency enjoyed by Michael Cammalleri in the outing, with the left winger winning three of his four draws on the night.

2 – Number of Canadiens players who suffered the wrath of referee Kelly Sutherland in a three minute span, with Tomas Plekanec and Scott Gomez respectively picking up two and 10 minute penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct in that span.

2 – Number of times in his career in which Plekanec has scored in three straight playoff games, following up a similar performance against the Flyers in 2008 with his third in as many games against the Caps this postseason.

9 – Shifts played by Glen Metropolit in his first game back from a separated shoulder, showing no signs of rust after being shelved for just three of an expected six to eight weeks.

6 – Years since the Canadiens last won the third game of a playoff series, dating back to 2004 when the Habs defeated the Bruins on their way to a seven-game series win. Montreal had dropped their last five Game 3s over that span, including Monday’s loss to the Caps.
