The Numbers game - April 10, 2010

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL – Here’s a numerical look at the playoff clinching match-up between the Habs and the Leafs at the Bell Centre on Saturday night.

1099 – Number of days since Canadiens fans lived through the heartbreak of the last game of the 2006-07 regular season between the Leafs and Habs, in which the home team needed just one point to make it into the postseason but fell just a few goals short to their longtime rivals from Toronto.

7 – Number of players suiting up in Saturday night’s game who took part in that disappointing Habs loss, including Hal Gill who was wearing Maple Leafs blue and white at the time.

195 – Number of games played for the Leafs by Mikhail Grabovski since leaving Montreal for the Ontario capital. He may not be sporting bleu-blanc-rouge these days, but that didn’t stop the young Belarusian from giving his former team a helping hand, redirecting an Andrei Markov shot into his own goal in the first period.

6 – Number of times throughout his NHL coaching career in which Jacques Martin has led his team to 40 or more wins in a season.

3 – Number of seasons in which Brian Gionta has reached double-digits in power play goals during his career, reaching the milestone in the last game of the year, but not quite bettering his career-high 24 goals with the man advantage set in 2005-06.

2 – Number of times Gionta has scored at least a goal in three straight games this season, scoring the third of his current streak against Jean-Sebastien Giguere to register his 28th of the campaign .

38 – Number of points amassed by Andrei Markov against Toronto throughout his NHL career, with the Leaf-killer notching a goal and two assists in Saturday’s tilt.
