MONTREAL -- For the first time ever, the Montreal Canadiens will be hosting a New and Used Skates Drive on February 12 at the Bell Centre prior to the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. This Montreal Canadiens initiative will help respond to the needs of several local charities and youngsters who do not have the necessities in sports equipment. Thanks to your generosity, we will be able to better serve the needs of those less fortunate in the Montreal community.
The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation flagship outdoor rink program, BLEU BLANC BOUGE, will be a major beneficiary from this drive. Since 2008, the Foundation has built three multi-sport and refrigerated community rinks in the boroughs of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, Montréal-Nord, and Verdun.
Fans attending the game on February 12 are invited to contribute by donating new or used skates for this cause. Player spouses along with volunteers will be at various entrances of the Bell Centre to collect the skates.
By donating to this skate drive, you will have the opportunity to win some great prizes, including a Sports Experts gift certificate ($500 value), a Canada Goose jacket and a pair of UGG boots as well as player-autographed items!
Generosity is a value at the heart of the Montreal Canadiens organization. We invite you, as part of our team, to join us for this first edition of the skate drive by sharing our goals of encouraging healthy living, contributing to the well-being of our society, developing minor hockey and supporting the community in its needs.
