MONTREAL - Shortly after the 2018-19 campaign came to a close, we caught up with forward Nate Thompson to learn more about his likes in a variety of different categories.

ONE RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD PEOPLE MUST TRY

It would probably be Madeo in Beverly Hills. It's a pretty good Italian spot. The authenticity of the food is great. If you go, you have to try the chicken parmesan. That's the best way to go.

ONE CAR PEOPLE MUST DRIVE

I'm not a huge car guy, but I would say a '68 Camaro is a good choice. I've driven one before in California, and it was pretty fun. Old school muscle cars are just fun to drive. You just have to love the power of it and the feel of it.

ONE TV SHOW PEOPLE MUST WATCH

Game of Thrones is the best show of all time, hands down. Anybody that watches it would know why.

I'm defending our family. #GameofThrones

ONE MOVIE PEOPLE MUST WATCH

A River Runs Through It. The fly fishing part of it really intrigues me. I grew up fly fishing, and I think the calmness of the narration of Robert Redford makes it a classic.

ONE ALBUM PEOPLE MUST ADD TO THEIR COLLECTION

Ten by Pearl Jam. It's my favorite band and that first album has so many classic songs and so many hits. You look at Pearl Jam's Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits, and most of that first album is on there. "Given to Fly" is my favorite Peal Jam song, though. That's on the Yield album.

ONE BRAND OF CLOTHING PEOPLE MUST WEAR

I wear a lot of Zanerobe stuff. It's just really comfortable and fits well. For hockey guys, clothing can be tough, so that's probably why I enjoy it so much.

Key styles from RETROSPECT, doubled.

ONE ACTIVITY PEOPLE MUST TRY

Fly fishing. I've been doing it since I was really young, almost from when I was a toddler. Obviously it's very enjoyable to catch fish, but sometimes just being out there on the river with the motion of the water is so relaxing. It's like pure bliss. It's very calming for me.

ONE BOOK PEOPLE MUST READ

I really enjoyed Legacy, which is about the All Blacks of New Zealand. I also enjoyed Living with a SEAL by Jesse Itzler. He talks about Navy SEAL David Goggins, whom he hires to live with him for 31 days. It kind of changes his whole outlook on life. It's pretty good, and it's funny too. I love the mentality of Navy SEALs and the way they train. A friend of mine is a SEAL team member, so it just really fascinates me. The exclusiveness of it and just how hard it is for them to make it is so unique. There's no mediocre attitude with those guys.

I'm so lucky to have had these experiences and be able to share them. But they just didn't happen. I had to create them. That's how it works. Create your own memories. That goes for family, friends, hobbies, races, etc. We all have the ability to shape a good portion of our life story...IF WE CHOOSE TO. It's a decision. For me, I'm all about what's next..not hanging on to the past. When something is done...it's check the box and move on. BUILD THAT LIFE RESUME. I'm constantly telling myself DO MORE. We hear experts say "surround yourself with like-minded people" ALL THE TIME. Sorry...but that usually just yields the same results. You learn WAY more when you're around people that AREN'T like you (Monks and SEAL's 😉). That said, one thing I'm 100% sure of...is as an adult it's HARD to create newness. You have to seek it. You have to schedule it. You have to prioritize it. As we head into 2019 try something NEW, SCARY and DIFFERENT and COMMIT TO IT. That's how you build memories. That's how you make a year...a memorable year. My two cents...PICK AT LEAST ONE NEW THING you are going to DO or LEARN in 2019!! If you don't.....2019 will be just like 2018. @29029_everesting #BuildYourLifeResume #29029 #NewBook #FruitTilNoon #KevinsRule #FamilyTrips #TedTalk #GoingToShakeUpTheCerealIndustryNext #UltraMarathonAgain #LiveLifeForALiving

ONE EXOTIC FOOD PEOPLE MUST TRY

My mom's side of the family, they're all from Trinidad. Roti is a big thing. I grew up eating that. It was kind of our exotic food. I usually do the curry and chicken. It's pretty damn good.
