The Montreal Canadiens mourn the loss of Dollard St-Laurent

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

MONTREAL - It is with great sadness that the Canadiens learned of the passing of Dollard St-Laurent in Beloeil on Monday. He was 85.

Originally from Verdun, St-Laurent got his start with the Canadiens in 1950-51 before playing his first full season in 1952-53. A defensive defenseman who could still pitch in on offense, it was during the 1952-53 season that St-Laurent won his first Stanley Cup.

Appreciated by his teammates, his most productive season came in 1957-58, when he tallied 23 points, including three goals.

St-Laurent played a total of 383 regular season games with the Habs, totaling 19 goals and 82 assists for a career 101-point haul, while also registering 306 penalty minutes.
