The Michel Therrien Golf Invitational was a big success once again this year, with participants raising $170,000 for the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation on Tuesday at Le Mirage Golf Club in Terrebonne.
“We were really spoiled weather-wise this year,” said Therrien, referencing the poor weather conditions that made the golf course unplayable in 2015. “Once again, the response from people surpassed our expectations. The players and celebrities on site at the event demonstrated their generosity. It really touched me because all of the funds raised go to support the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, a cause that is really close to my heart.”
Since the inaugural tournament was held in 2013, it has managed to raise over $576,000 for the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation. Its goal is to provide a better and healthier future for children in need by encouraging physical activity and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle among disadvantaged youth from four to 17 years old.
“We’re privileged to be able to count on the support and involvement of our head coach,” said Genevieve Paquette, the executive director of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation. “We sincerely thank him, along with the organizing committee, for their tremendous generosity.”
