The battle of Quebec continues... for a good cause

QUEBEC - The Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation in collaboration with Desjardins Securities is happy to announce that former Canadiens and Nordiques players will reunite for a good cause. This event will benefit two local non profit organizations, La Fondation Sourdine and La Corporation Cité Joie.

The showdown will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Colisée Pepsi. Guy Lafleur will lead the way for Montreal who will have Jacques Demers behind the bench, while Michel Goulet and the Nordiques will be coached by none other than Michel Bergeron.

"We are proud to present this event that will bring together players who took part in the Canadiens-Nordiques rivalry over the years," said Mr. Robert Sirois, president and general manager of the Canadiens Children's Foundation. "All proceeds of this event will be donated to charitable organizations dedicated to helping children across Quebec.  Thanks to the generosity and dedication of Desjardins Securities, the Foundation continues it's mission by helping various non profit organizations throughout the province of Quebec"
The Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation assists children who are underprivileged or sick, or who may have special needs by funding non-profit groups dedicated to fighting poverty, improving their health and well-being, or promoting sport among the less fortunate. Since its inception in 2000, the Foundation has donated close to 3 million dollars to over a hundred non-profit organizations all across the province of Quebec.

"Since its creation, the Foundation has made donations to various non profit organizations in the Quebec city region : Le Pignon Bleu, Hébergement Jeunesse Sainte-Foy, Joujouthèque Basse-Ville, Enfance à petits pas, Gîte Jeunesse, Le Mieux-être des immigrants, Fondation Cardinal-Villeneuve, Fondation Sourdine and La Corporation Cité Joie," said Sirois.
