TORONTO - The Canadiens recalled forwards Sven Andrighetto and Nikita Scherbak from the AHL's St. John's IceCaps on Thursday afternoon.
Andrighetto will re-join the big club after being returned to the IceCaps on Saturday night following the New Year's Eve tilt against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 23-year-old right-winger has two assists in eight games so far this season with the Canadiens. He also boasts eight goals and 22 points in 20 games with Sylvain Lefebvre's squad as well.
For Scherbak, meanwhile, this marks his first ever call-up to the Canadiens. The 21-year-old right-winger - who was selected 26th overall in 2014 - is tied for the IceCaps' team lead with 10 goals and ranks third with 20 points on the year.
The pair will join Michel Therrien's troops for practice at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at the ACC.
