Spotlight on... Maxim Lapierre

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

Maxim Lapierre was called up from Hamilton at the midway mark of the 2006-07 season and from that point on, never looked back.  The 22-year-old center made his presence felt every time he was on the ice, much to the chagrin of many opponents (hello, Sidney Crosby).  Get to know more about the Canadiens' feisty forward.

Who is your role model/idol and why? I don't really have an idol.  I admired any player who worked hard to reach their goals.

Why No. 40?  It's pretty simple, that's what they gave me.

What question do you get asked the most? I often get asked how I felt the first time I stepped foot in the Canadiens dressing room.

What's the first concert you went to? Celine Dion at the Bell Centre about 10 years ago.

What artist would you really like to see live? Coldplay.

Favorite team to play against and why? Toronto.  The atmosphere is always a little crazy, whether it's here or in Toronto.

What's the best gift you've ever received? My first pair of hockey gloves when I was eight years old.

What's your biggest pet peeve? People who take too long.  I'm not the most patient person.  It bugs me when people go to McDonald's and take an hour to place their order.

What's your guilty pleasure? Chocolate.

Do you have a pre-game ritual? Yeah, and it's pretty elaborate.  First, I nap from 1:30 to 3:30.  I have to have regular pasta, with nothing on it, and a Coke. Then I have to pass the puck with a teammate before the game.  This year, I did that with Guillaume Latendresse.  I've had that ritual since I was in Midget AAA.

What was the first CD/album you bought? Big Shiny Tunes.  I have no idea which number.

Who was your first celebrity crush? Pamela Anderson.

Do you have a favorite website? I'd have to say the Tête à claques site.  It's one of the reasons I bought a laptop.  The Halloween sketch is my favorite.
