Seven players receive qualifying offers

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL – While the countdown to the opening of the July 1st free-agent market continues, the Canadiens have stayed busy, presenting qualifying offers to seven players that helped shape the Habs organization in 2010-11.

At this point, the Canadiens have the opportunity to match any offers made to seven of its players who are slated to become restricted free-agents on July 1st, if deals still haven’t been made with the team. The list of players includes Josh Gorges, Yannick Weber, Ryan White, Mathieu Carle,  Kyle Klubertanz, Ryan Russell and Frédéric St-Denis.

The players will have up until July 15th to decide if they wish to accept the offer. The restricted free-agents that choose to decline the qualifying offer of their respective team can then opt for salary arbitration.

Dustin Boyd, Nigel Dawes, Benoit Pouliot, Alexandre Picard and Tom Pyatt did not receive qualifying offers.
