Ryan Johnston recalled from St. John's

First call-up this season for 24-year-old defenseman

TAMPA - The Canadiens recalled defenseman Ryan Johnston from the St. John's IceCaps on Tuesday evening.

It's a first call-up this season for the 24-year-old, since being released from training camp along with 23 other hopefuls on Oct. 2.
The 5-foot-10 rearguard has a goal and six assists in 23 AHL games with the IceCaps this season.
Johnston made his NHL debut last April with the Canadiens, being held scoreless over the final three games of the 2015-16 season in Montreal.
The Habs will be back in action against the Lightning on Wednesday.
