Two nights after opening the exhibition schedule against the Bruins on Monday in Quebec City, the Habs receive the Washington Capitals for a midweek tilt at the Bell Centre.
Head coach Claude Julien will go with a different lineup than the one he utilized in the provincial capital, with Jonathan Drouin, Max Pacioretty, Shea Weber and Ales Hemsky notably in uniform.
Charles Hudon, who racked up three points during Sunday's scrimmage and is looking to stay on with the big club, will likewise be in the lineup.
Lines and D pairings at practice - September 20
Carey Price and Charlie Lindgren will share the work between the pipes for the Canadiens. Price will get the start, but Lindgren will fill-in midway through the matchup.
Injured Habs Andrew Shaw (neck), Noah Juulsen (foot) and Chris Terry will be sidelined on Wednesday.
The Capitals meanwhile will have no shortage of firepower on-hand as Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov are expected to hit the ice in Montreal. Former Hab Devante Smith-Pelly should also be in uniform, after signing with Washington over the summer. Goaltenders Philipp Grubauer and Pheonix Copley will protect the Capitals crease as Braden Holtby gets the night off.
Both teams are coming off losses in their preseason debuts, as the Habs fell 3-2 to the Bruins on Monday, and the Caps dropped a 4-1 decision to the Devils on Tuesday.
