- The Canadiens practiced at the Bell Sports Complex on Friday morning in preparation for their Saturday night tilt against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre.
- After being called up from the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs on Thursday evening, forward Christian Thomas hit the ice in Brossard on Friday, taking part in practice alongside his teammates. He practiced on the Canadiens’ fourth line. Head coach Michel Therrien did not confirm, however, whether Thomas would see action on Saturday night.
- Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, who was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, took to the ice for a third consecutive day on Friday to continue his rehab. He skated with athletic therapist Vincent Roof-Racine prior to the start of practice, and then remained on the ice to participate in several practice drills with goaltenders Carey Price and Dustin Tokarski. Parenteau, however, did not participate in the general practice session. In his post-practice press conference, Therrien indicated that Parenteau is making progress, but would not suit up against Pittsburgh.
