MONTREAL -- The Canadiens posted a 4-0 victory over the Sabres on Wednesday night at the Bell Centre, extending their winning streak to four games.

Montreal opened the scoring just under seven minutes into the first period when Nick Suzuki jumped on a loose puck in the slot and beat goaltender Craig Anderson.
Suzuki's 10th goal of the season was assisted by Cole Caufield and Josh Anderson.

Suzuki and Anderson both extended their respective point streaks to three straight games on the play, while Caufield now has points in four consecutive contests.
It also marks the third consecutive season that Suzuki has reached the double-digit mark in goals. He scored a career-high 15 goals last season in his sophomore NHL campaign.
The Canadiens led 1-0 after 20 minutes.
At the intermission, the club announced that Paul Byron wouldn't return to the game after taking a high hit. He played just 1:11 before heading to the dressing room.
Suzuki struck again with a penalty-shot tally at the 5:57 mark of the second period.
The 22-year-old sniper went upstairs on Anderson for a slick breakaway strike that put the home side up by a pair.

The Canadiens led 2-0 after 40 minutes.
Just before the third period began, the club announced that Anderson wouldn't return to the game after being struck by a puck in the second.
Caufield added to the Habs' advantage only 78 seconds into the final stanza, scoring off an offensive zone draw.
His seventh goal of the season was assisted by Suzuki.

Caufield has four goals in the last four games.
Jake Evans added an empty-netter with 1:33 remaining in regulation.
It was Evans' seventh goal of the year.
Ben Chiarot collected the lone helper on the play.
That's the way this one finished.
Goaltender Sam Montembeault made 32 saves to record the first shutout of his NHL career.

Up next for the Canadiens is a matchup against the Senators on Saturday night in Kanata.
