MONTREAL -- The Canadiens posted a 3-0 victory over the Red Wings on Tuesday night, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

It was a special night for rookie Michael Pezzetta, who made his NHL debut.
Recalled from the AHL's Laval Rocket on Monday, the 23-year-old was all smiles ahead of the contest.

As expected, Pezzetta's teammates afforded him the traditional solo warmup lap to mark the occasion.
It was a moment the Toronto native will never forget.

The Canadiens were rewarded for their strong start early in the opening frame when center Nick Suzuki scored his first goal of the season at the 2:06 mark.
Suzuki buried his own rebound past goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic, batting the puck into the net.

Winger Tyler Toffoli and defenseman Jeff Petry were credited with assists on the tally.
The Canadiens doubled their lead seven minutes later when Josh Anderson solved Nedeljkovic with a blistering wrist shot off a rush.
It was his third goal of the year.

Suzuki and winger Brendan Gallagher assisted on the snipe.
That's the way things stood after 20 minutes.
Unfortunately, veteran Jonathan Drouin was forced to leave the game after being struck by a puck in the first period.
He went to the hospital for further evaluation.
There were no goals to report during the second period, so the Habs took a 2-0 advantage into the third.
Gallagher added an empty-netter with 2:01 left in regulation, scoring his second goal of the year.
Toffoli and Suzuki assisted on the goal.

Goaltender Jake Allen made 22 saves to register his second shutout of the season.
The Canadiens fired 40 shots on Nedeljkovic in the win.
The Habs are back in action on Thursday night against the New York Islanders at the Bell Centre.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
