Numbers-PIT

PITTSBURGH -- Here's a numerical look at Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Penguins.

29 -- Number of days since Carey Price last got the start for the Canadiens, on Feb. 20 in Philadelphia. The All-Star netminder got the green light from medical staff earlier this week after suffering a concussion a month ago, and served as Antti Niemi's backup against the Panthers on Monday before returning between the pipes at PPG Paints Arena.
105 -- Number of consecutive games played by Alex Galchenyuk, who's tied with Jeff Petry for the third longest streak in that category among current Habs, behind Paul Byron (115) and Karl Alzner (613). His sequence dating back to Jan. 31, 2017 was in jeopardy on Wednesday, as the 24-year-old was originally a game-time decision in Pittsburgh after suffering a hand injury at practice on Tuesday, but eventually suited up with his teammates.
2 -- Number of breakaway attempts which started the action in Pittsburgh. The Canadiens' first shot of the game came in the form of a Byron breakaway at 0:17 in the opening frame, while the Pens' first try on goal came via a penalty shot to Derick Brassard at 1:19. In both instances the goaltenders had the final say, keeping things scoreless early.
166:33 -- Number of minutes the Habs had gone without a goal before Jonathan Drouin found the back of the net with 30 seconds remaining in the first. Drouin's goal ended a scoreless streak dating back to the second period on March 15, also against the Penguins.

2 -- Number of penalty shots awarded during Wednesday's game. Following Brassard's attempt in the first, Brendan Gallagher also got an opportunity to go one-on-one in the second, but was likewise denied.

1 -- Number of career NHL points for defenseman Brett Lernout. The 22-year-old got onto the scoresheet with an assist on Nikita Scherbak's shorthanded equalizer in the middle frame -- during his 13th career NHL game.

45 -- Number of points this season for Brendan Gallagher, who picked up an assist on Jacob de la Rose's second-period goal. With the helper, the 25-year-old moved into sole possession of first place among Habs point-getters this season, with one more than Alex Galchenyuk (44).
