BOS@MTL: Game recap

MONTREAL - It was another hard-fought, back and forth battle with the record-setting President's Trophy winners, but the Canadiens came out on the losing end in their season finale, losing 5-4 to the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre on Thursday.

After Joel Teasdale the night before, it was Lucas Condotta's turn to make his NHL debut. Condotta was called up earlier in the day on an emergency basis and replaced Mike Hoffman in the lineup.

Sam Montembeault got the start in goal, setting a new career high by playing his 40th game of the season.

Condotta didn't waste any time in his new job, giving the Canadiens a lead at 3:27 of the opening frame on his very first shift in the NHL.

Michael Pezzetta and Teasdale picked up the assists. It was Teasdale's first career point in the League.

Trent Frederic tied things up for the Bruins at 9:19 of the first.
Jake DeBrusk gave Boston a 2-1 lead with 5:20 to go in the period.
That's where things stood after 20 minutes, with Montreal outshooting Boston 8-7.
The Canadiens turned things around in the second, however.
First, Nick Suzuki tipped Joel Edmundson's shot from the point to tie the game at 2-2. It extended the captain's point streak to four games and tied him for the team lead in goals with his 26th of the season.

The goal was scored at 7:16 of the period.
Just over a minute later, the Canadiens took advantage of a botched Bruins attempt to hold the line in their own end, with Rem Pitlick beating Boston netminder Jeremy Swayman in the corner to take possession of the puck at the other end of the ice and selflessly passing it to Michael Pezzetta, who buried it into the open net.
Pitlick and Chris Tierney got the helpers on the play.

Dmitry Orlov tied things up for Boston.
The two teams headed to the room all tied up at 3-3 after 40 minutes.
Just over one minute into the final frame, with Pezzetta in the box for high-sticking, Justin Barron pinched in and beat Swayman with a slapshot from the slot.

Charlie Coyle evened things up once again at the 8:48 mark.
David Pastrnak gave the Bruins the lead with exactly nine minutes remaining in regulation.
