Pleky gets the ball rolling

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
Called in for reinforcements by his native Czech Republic, Tomas Plekanec didn’t take long to make an impact at the IIHF World Hockey Championships in Slovakia, scoring his first goal in a 6-0 win over Denmark.

Playing alongside Jaromir Jagr and Roman Cervenka (leading scorer for Omsk Avangard of the KHL), Plekanec – who is sporting No. 82 for the tournament – finished his first night on the job with a plus-1 in 14:11 of ice time. The Czechs will look to finish the round robin portion of the even with their perfect record in tact on Wednesday night against the Finns, having already disposed of the Latvians 4-2 on Saturday night.
