After falling to the eventual gold-medal-winning Swedes, the Czech Republic made sure to end their near-perfect tournament run on a high note. Tomas Plekanec
and the rest of the Czech squad gave team Russia all they could handle and more en route to a 7-4 victory that saw the ever-effective Habs’ forward register another goal and an assist.
Along with Ondrej Pavelev and linemate Jaromir Jagr, Tomas Plekanec was singled out by the Czech coach as one the team’s three best players. With his tally from the bronze medal game, Plekanec ended the tournament with a total of six goals and four assists – good enough to rank him second overall in scoring, behind only Finland’s Jarkko Immonen.
