The Canadiens called up defenseman Greg Pateryn from the Hamilton Bulldogs on Sunday. Pateryn will join the team in Detroit and should be available to head coach Michel Therrien for Monday’s tilt at Joe Louis Arena.
In 49 games with the Bulldogs this season, the 24-year-old rearguard has registered two goals, 11 assists and 56 penalty minutes. Pateryn makes his first stint with Montreal this season after previously playing three games with the Canadiens in 2012-13.
Veteran defenseman Sergei Gonchar, currently sidelined with an upper body injury, did not travel with his teammates on Sunday. Gonchar did not finish Saturday’s game against Toronto.
