BROSSARD – Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on one-year, two-way contracts with forward Alex Belzile and defenseman Nate Clurman.

Belzile, 33, played 66 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL this season, producing 56 points (19G, 37A). The Riviere-du-Loup, QC native led his team in assists, points and penalty minutes (119) in addition to representing the Wolf Pack at the AHL All-Star game.

This signing marks a return to the Canadiens organization for Belzile, who played for the Rocket from 2018 to 2023. Belzile also served as Rocket captain from 2021 to 2023. In 44 NHL games with the Canadiens, he scored six goals and nine assists while serving 17 penalty minutes.

Clurman, a 27-year-old right-handed defenseman, suited up for 31 AHL games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, recording 11 points (2G, 9A) and 20 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 193 lbs rearguard also made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins on December 29 against the New York Islanders and served two penalty minutes in the contest.

Clurman was selected in the sixth round (161st overall) by the Colorado Avalanche at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
