MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Thursday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Michael Pezzetta on a one-year, two-way contract extension. The deal will pay Pezzetta $750,000 in the NHL and $82,500 in the AHL.

Pezzetta skated in 20 games with the Laval Rocket in 2020-21 and collected five points (two goals, three assists) in addition to serving 20 penalty minutes. The Toronto, ON native sustained a facial fracture that ended his season at the end of April. Pezzetta played the 100th game of his AHL career this season on March 30 at Manitoba.
Pezzetta, 23, has notched 10 goals and added nine helpers in 107 regular season games in the AHL with the Rocket. Since making his professional debut in 2018-19, the gritty forward has served 170 penalty minutes. His +3 differential marked the first AHL season he concluded with a positive differential.
Pezzetta was selected in the sixth round by the Canadiens (160th overall) at the 2016 NHL Draft.
