On the campaign trail: Day 41

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL – The light at the end of the election tunnel is approaching and that means your votes are more and more important.

Just as the Habs are asked to play 60 minutes night in and night out, the fans voting efforts are needed all 51 days of the campaign trail.  A mere 10 days remain in the fan balloting and the heated battle is not slowing down.

Up front, while Pittsburgh’s electors have all but ensured Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as two-thirds of the starting lineup, Canadiens voters can count on a Montreal forward in the starting lineup, with Alex Kovalev holding on to that final spot, just ahead of teammates Saku Koivu and Alex Tanguay.

No changes in the polls on the blue line.  Andrei Markov and Mike Komisarek haven’t moved since day one and despite having yet to suit up for a game this season, Pens’ rearguards Sergei Gonchar and Ryan Whitney are still making a push for the starting lineup.

Over the last week, the Penguins goaltending delegate Marc-Andre Fleury has been flip-flopping with Carey Price for the elusive starter’s spot. After following up a gold medal at the World Juniors with a Calder Cup, Price would like nothing more than to add to his impressive resume, and it begins with a starting bid at the All-Star Game.

To vote for all six Habs, simply text CANADIENS to 81812.  Remember, you can vote as often as you want, so why wait?
