On the campaign trail: Day 2

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
MONTREAL - With a stellar record to their credit and in first place in the division when the polls opened at midnight on November 12, Canadiens fans wasted little time in throwing their support behind the club’s six candidates for this year’s All-Star Game in Montreal on January 25, 2009.

After just 24 hours of voting, the fans are making their voices heard.  Anywhere you look in the early Eastern Conference results, it’s wall-to-wall Habs.  Saku Koivu, Alex Tanguay, Alex Kovalev, Andrei Markov, Mike Komisarek and Carey Price jumped out well ahead of the rest of the pack in their respective categories.

Following Wednesday’s late morning practice, the campaign trail led the Habs to Boston, where the Montreal delegation can likely expect a less supportive crowd Thursday night, having defeated the hometown boys in the last 12 regular season debates.  Price will have the chance to share his platform with Tim Thomas’ backers, his closest competitor after Day 1.

The Canadiens’ representatives will return to the home base on Friday before meeting with the Flyers’ camp on Saturday night.
