Job Description and Responsibilities


HabsTV is currently recruiting talented individuals for the role of on-air host, a new permanent, full-time position for the 2011-12 season.  This person will be featured in many of the video segments produced by the organization to air across its digital platforms (canadiens.com, mobile app, YouTube channel, Facebook page, etc.) as well as in-arena before games or during intermissions.  The person will serve as both a reporter for news-oriented (timely) pieces and host for produced (evergreen) vignettes that have a longer shelf life.

As such, broad responsibilities will include yet not be limited to:
  • Report on club news following practice/games/other organizational activities (community or marketing initiatives, etc.) in both languages – follow club with others in digital group and seek out relevant points/news to share with audience
  • Host bilingual, original segments involving the club devised in conjunction with others in digital group – brainstorm ideas and then align production elements accordingly
  • Submit new ideas for video content – both one-off segments and recurring features – and work with others in digital group to realize new productions
  • Write/prepare own scripts/notes (if applicable) for all news and feature segments
  • Eventually learn to shoot and edit own video with FinalCut Pro/similar software
  • Serve as personality/host (if applicable) at club events
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
  • Fluently, perfectly bilingual (English and French)
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about sports in general, hockey in particular, and the Canadiens specifically
  • Versed in pop culture and various media appealing to both our players and the 18-34 demographic (music/TV/film)
  • Presents well
  • Has previous experience/is comfortable performing in front of a camera
  • At ease talking with new people; charming, spontaneous and can think on her feet
  • Recognizes critical importance of discretion around a professional sports organization
  • Has a valid passport and ability to travel regularly between the United States and Canada
This full-time position will involve extensive travel and in-season the candidate’s schedule will largely follow that of the team’s.  Availability on nights and weekends is a must and flexibility to work a variety of times and hours is essential.
