November is Hockey Fights Cancer month

MONTREAL - The circumstances may be a little different, but the month of November is once again Hockey Fights Cancer month in the NHL.

Hockey Fights Cancer (HFC), a joint venture between the League and the NHL Players' Association, is entering its 22nd year of existence. And just as it's done every year since 1998, the initiative is renewing its efforts to unite the hockey community in support of people impacted by cancer and their families with storytelling, awareness campaigns, and fundraising initiatives.

In Canada, the League has teamed up with the
Canadian Cancer Society
as its official HFC partner, while the Canadiens will once again also be working with
Leucan
, an association that has dedicated itself over the past 40 years to supporting cancer-stricken children and their families.
With the hockey season on hold, the Canadiens will be offering their support in slightly different ways this time around. For his part, Brendan Gallagher has joined Cameo, a platform allowing fans to connect with public personalities by making requests for personalized video messages. Throughout November, Gallagher will be donating all proceeds from his Cameos to a handful of prostate cancer foundations in honor of his late grandfather, who passed away from the disease in 2009.

Fans can join in the fight by downloading HFC's
"I Fight For" cards
and sharing photos of themselves holding a printed or digital version of the card with the Habs on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook using #HockeyFightsCancer. A selection of fan photos will be featured on the Canadiens' social media accounts and on canadiens.com.
A staple of HFC nights at the Bell Centre, the lavender Hockey Fights Cancer Adizero warmup jerseys are once again for sale on the
Tricolore Sports website
, with 10% of profits being donated to Leucan.
The HFC campaign will continue in earnest once the 2020-21 season gets underway, with the Canadiens and the NHL's 30 other teams expected to once again host HFC fundraising and awareness nights. Stay tuned for more info on HFC throughout November.
