PARIS - Team Norway took three-goal lead against Slovenia in the first period and never looked back, defeating them 5-1 in their third game of the preliminary round of the World Hockey Championship.

Lars Haugen made 15 saves for the winning side, and Norway got goals from Mathis Olimb, Ken Andre Olimb, Kristian Forsberg, Aleksander Reichenberg and Patrick Thoresen. Robert Sabolic replied for the Slovenians, while Gasper Kroselj made 18 saves in the loss.
Canadiens forward Andreas Martinsen racked up 2 penalty minutes and posted a plus-1 differential, but was held scoreless in 13:21 of ice time.
Norway has a day off before facing Tomas Plekanec and Jakub Jerabek of the Czech Republic at AccorHotels Arena on Thursday.
