After a 2-1 overtime defeat at the hands of France on Tuesday, Belarus finds itself officially out of contention for the medal rounds at the 2011 World Championships.
Playing in his second game since arriving in Slovakia to help represent his country in the tournament, Andrei Kostitsyn
managed a total of three shots on former teammate and ex-Canadiens netminder Cristobal Huet, playing between the pipes for France. The 26-year-old forward ended his night having logged 19 minutes and 35 seconds of ice-time.
Finishing fourth overall in Group B and earning only a single point in three games, Belarus will still have the opportunity to participate in the tournament’s consolation rounds, with their next game set to take place on Thursday. They will prepare to face the fourth place finisher from Group C.
