Nikita Scherbak

MONTREAL - The Canadiens announced on Sunday that they had assigned forward Nikita Scherbak to the AHL's Laval Rocket.

Scherbak has missed the last 21 games with a knee injury, which he suffered on October 26 and which resulted in him undergoing surgery on October 30.
The Russian had just been called up by the big club when he got hurt. In two games, he had not collected any points. Before his recall, he was one of Laval's - and the AHL's - top scorers, having recorded nine points (1G, 8A) in six games.
The 21-year-old was the Canadiens' first-round choice (26th overall) in the 2014 Draft. Scherbak has played five NHL games and has scored one goal in that span.
