BROSSARD - The Canadiens launched the Montreal chapter of the Future Goals initiative on Friday, a digital program that provides learning modules to high school students for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) under the theme of hockey.

For the occasion, students from École Bonnier and Macdonald High School participated in a Q&A session with Canadiens coaches Kirk Muller and Jean-Jacques Daigneault, as well as players Paul Byron and Zach Redmond.
During the 20-minute session, the Habs were asked about everything from slapshots and pregame meals to the importance of staying in school.

And just like the hockey club on stage, the students share a similar objective: winning a Stanley Cup.
As classmates guide their team towards their goal, they complete twelve learning modules that educate them and test their knowledge on core STEM concepts covering data analysis, geometry, life science and physical science topics.

These topics come to life through real hockey examples that include the dynamics of the ice surface, equipment design, athletic performance, and geometric and energy considerations to how the game is played.
Developed by EverFi, and presented in collaboration with the NHL and NHLPA, the Future Goals program has reached over 930,000 students across the United States and Canada in 9,300 schools since 2014.
