MONTREAL - After making the decision of where to sign their next NHL contract, the new members of the Canadiens firmed up another important choice this week.

Just like when changing addresses after a move, the newcomers to the Habs picked the numbers that will adorn their new jerseys come next season.
After having worn No. 27 since in Junior with Halifax, Jonathan Drouin will be sporting 92 in Montreal. He will be only the second player in Canadiens history to do so after Steve Ott wore it last year.

Karl Alzner is also a former No. 27, having worn it through his first nine NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals, and will be switching it up for No. 22 with the Habs.
Ales Hemsky will pick up where he left off with No. 83, which he had worn in his previous NHL stops in Edmonton, Ottawa and Dallas. He will be the first player to wear it in Montreal since Eric Bertrand did so in 2000-01.
Acquired from the Golden Knights the day after the expansion draft, David Schlemko will don No. 21 with the Canadiens.
As for Peter Holland, Byron Froese, Matt Taormina and Joe Morrow, who all signed as free agents on July 1, they will wear 13, 32, 42 and 45, respectively, with the Habs.
