MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Thursday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, one-way contract (2019-20 - $1,000,000) with forward Nate Thompson.

Thompson, 34, played 78 games in 2018-19 with the Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings, registering five goals, 13 points, 87 hits and a -1 differential. The 6-foot-1, 207-pound Anchorage, AK native also won 53.8% of his faceoffs while averaging 13 minutes of ice time per game.
In 697 career regular season games in the NHL ranks with the Boston Bruins, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators, Los Angeles Kings and the Canadiens, Thompson has recorded 141 points (58 goals, 83 assists), 336 penalty minutes and won 52.7% of his draws. He has also appeared in 62 playoff games, amassing seven goals and 18 points.
Thompson was acquired by the Canadiens in a trade with Los Angeles on February 11.
He was selected in the sixth round, 183rd overall by Boston in the 2003 NHL Draft.
