Montreal Canadiens Fans Once Again Show Their Generosity

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

MONTREAL – The first Radio-Telethon of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation was held on March 11, when the Edmonton Oilers were at the Bell Centre to play the Montreal Canadiens, and the event was a resounding success with $100,000 raised for the children.

The remarkable outcome of this new initiative was made possible thanks to the hard work and precious cooperation of our broadcasters RDS, CKAC SPORTS and CJAD, the commitment of our partners Activis, Eska, Bell and La Cage aux Sports, the dedication of some 150 volunteers, including our players spouses and the Canadiens Alumni and, of course, the generosity of fans across the province who, once again, have shown how good-hearted they are by contributing generously to the cause.

“The results of the first Radio-Telethon of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation clearly demonstrate that Quebec hockey fans embrace the cause of children by opening their hearts and giving generously. In the light of the overwhelming support, we sincerely hope that the Radio-Telethon will become an annual event to help the Foundation in its mission to provide a better life for underprivileged children in our province,” said Pierre Boivin, Chairman of the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
