by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens

Jeff Petry will miss the rest of the regular season as he will require surgery for a sports hernia (abdomen).

The 28-year-old defender has missed the Canadiens last seven games since suffering the injury on February 7 against the Hurricanes.

In addition, defenseman Tom Gilbert underwent surgery on his left knee on February 24 in Florida, as performed by Dr. James Andrews. The recovery period is expected to take up to six months.
