- Alexei Emelin lent a hand to team Russia, helping them win their first game of the World Championship against Latvia by a score of 5-2. Emelin, along with Dmitri Kalinin, posted the best plus/minus differential of the match, each registering a plus-3.

- Max Pacioretty picked up an assist on a Jack Johnson power play marker in a game between the Americans and Canada that would end with the Americans walking away with an overtime victory. Pacioretty finished the match with three shots on goal over15:31 of ice time.

Tomas Plekanec
Czech Republic 1 vs. Sweden 4

- Captain of the Czech Republic team, Tomas Plekanec, had a tougher outing than in his country's first game against Denmark that saw him log two assists. Plekanec won 52.94% of his face offs during the match, but was held off the scoresheet in a 4-1 loss to Sweden.
