Alexei Emelin and the rest of Team Russia routed Finland by a score of 6-2 to advance to the gold medal game of the 2012 World Championship. Despite being held off the score sheet in Russia’s semi-final victory, Emelin finished the game with a plus-1 differential and logged the second-highest ice-time on his team, seeing 18:26 of action. Russia will square off against Slovakia on Sunday for the tournament’s top honors.

Slovakia 3 vs Czech Republic 1

Tomas Plekanec and the Czech Republic’s bid for a gold medal finish came to an end after falling to Slovakia 3-1 in the tournament’s semi-final round. Plekanec assisted on the Czechs’ only goal of the match, scored by Frolik in the game’s second period. The Czech’s will gun for a spot on the podium against Finland in Sunday’s bronze medal tilt.
