Max Pacioretty earns Molson Cup honour for December

MONTREAL –
Forward Max Pacioretty is the Molson Cup recipient for the month of December (10 points). He succeeds forward David Desharnais who was the Molson Cup award winner for November. Pacioretty earns the fourth Molson Cup award of the month of his career (January 2012, November 2013 and February-March 2014).

Pacioretty earned two first star selections (on December 1 against Columbus and December 12 facing Ottawa) and as many second star selections (on December 3 versus Washington and December 22 at Minnesota). Pacioretty finished ahead of teammates Tomas Plekanec, Nathan Beaulieu and Paul Byron.

The 27-year old team captain collected five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in 14 games in December. Pacioretty led the team in powerplay goals (2), winning tallies (2), shots on goal (61) and average time on ice per game among forwards (18:44).

He will be presented with the Molson Cup during a ceremony prior to Wednesday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils at the Bell Centre.
