Guhle-WJC

MONTREAL - Hockey Canada unveiled its list of invitees to the National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp, and Canadiens prospect Kaiden Guhle's name is on it.

The purpose of the camp, which takes place from November 16-December 13 in Red Deer, AB, is to evaluate players for selection to Team Canada's roster for the 2021 World Junior Championship. The upcoming WJC is set for December 25-January 5 in Edmonton.

Guhle, 18, was the Canadiens' first-round pick (16th overall) at the 2020 NHL Draft. He is one of 15 defensemen to receive an invite to the camp, which will also feature five goaltenders and 26 forwards.

A native of 2021 WJC host city Edmonton, Guhle is coming off his second full season with the WHL's Prince Albert Raiders, where he put up 40 points (11G, 29A) and a plus-23 differential to go along with 56 penalty minutes in 64 games. The 6-foot-2, 186-pound rearguard won the WHL title with the Raiders in his rookie season in 2019. Guhle also previously captained Team Canada - Red at the 2019 U17 Hockey Challenge and was an alternate captain for Canada at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Team Canada hopefuls will take part in a series of practices, intrasquad games, and a set of six contests against a team of U SPORTS all-stars as part of the selection camp. Players chosen for the World Juniors roster will then enter the bubble in Edmonton to prepare for the tournament.
