MONTREAL -- While “Pour toujours… les Canadiens” won’t hit the big screen until December, the trailer for the heavily-anticipated feature film on the Habs has been released. Have a look!
Produced by Lorraine Richard and Luc Martineau of Cite Amerique in collaboration with the Canadiens, “Pour toujours… les Canadiens” was directed by Sylvain Archambault who captured the vision of Jacques Savoie’s screenplay.
In addition to the handful players from the 2008-09 Canadiens who will make their cinematic debut, the film stars Dhanaé Audet-Beaulieu, Jean Lapointe, Céline Bonnier, Claude Legault, Denis Bernard, Stéphane Jacques, Pierre-Paul Alain, Antoine L'Écuyer, Réal Bossé, Diane Langlois and none other than Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau.
While the action takes place in 2008-09, the team’s rich history will be celebrated through rare footage of Canadiens game action from throughout the years. Overview
Seventeen-year-old William Lanctot-Couture is the star player of his school hockey team at the College Francais. Just before Christmas, he falls into a slump sparked by his no-nonsense head coach who routinely calls him out about his lack of team spirit.
Things aren’t much better at home for William, whose father Benoit is obsessively trying to complete his documentary on the Canadiens Centennial. As William’s father neglects his family obligations, his mother Michelle, a nurse, is deeply moved by Daniel Delage, her 10-year-old patient who is facing a kidney transplant. The boy, the eldest of six children, is then rushed to St-Justine Hospital where he is cared for. His love of hockey is what keeps him going and his will to live deeply affects the hospital staff. From Dr. Hebert, and parents and friends of the both families, to Gerry the old Zamboni driver and the Montreal Canadiens themselves, everyone is affected by the twist of fate of these two inspiring youngsters each fueled by their passion for the game.
