Joe-Morrow

BROSSARD - Joe Morrow loves pressure. With that in mind, the 24-year-old defenseman didn't hesitate to accept a contract offer from the Canadiens on Saturday when the free agent market opened for business.

"I've always loved big pressure situations. The Canadiens have had so much success in the past that the fans expect the team to win. You can't make a mistake. You have to be ready," mentioned Morrow, who played with the Boston Bruins last season with Claude Julien, among others, behind the bench.
"It was obviously important to go to an organization with a coach that I know and I'm familiar with. It played a role in my decision. But, in general, when the Canadiens offer you a contract, it's a pretty easy decision," added Morrow, who received quality offers from six or seven teams.
In the end, though, he elected to go with Montreal. That's where he thinks he can be the best fit going forward, and where the brass showed confidence in him.
"I see it as an opportunity, a new start. Starting from scratch. I won't take anything for granted when it comes to having the chance to play with the Canadiens. It all comes back to playing your best right from the start of camp and doing everything you can for the organization to have success," concluded Morrow, who played against the likes of Brendan Gallagher as a youngster.
