- Carey Price won’t be making the trip to Ottawa alone. Raphael Diaz will be heading to All-Star weekend with the netminder to join other the YoungStars in the skills competition. Diaz is currently third among rookie defensemen with 14 points, just one point behind Devils rearguard Adam Larsson. The Swiss blue-liner is also first among all rookies in the NHL with 81 blocked shots.

-The Canadiens held an optional practice Wednesday morning, leading up to their game against the Detroit Red Wings. Only Scott Gomez and Andreas Engqvist, who will both play in tonight’s game, were absent from the practice with the latter still on his way to Montreal after being called up from the Bulldogs on Tuesday night.

-Recovered from a case of the flu that kept him out of Tuesday’s practice, Rene Bourque was back on the ice Wednesday morning and will be ready to face the Red Wings at the Bell Centre.

-Carey Price is completely recovered from the cut sustained to his foot and is slated to start in Wednesday night’s game. It will be the fifth time in Price's career that he faces off against the Red Wings.
