Max Domi answers fan questions on Instagram

MONTREAL - Max Domi took over the NHL's Instagram account last Friday, answering fan questions on several different subjects.

The 24-year-old centerman, who registered 17 goals and 44 points in 71 games before the NHL's coronavirus pause, revealed what he's been up to during the break, the real secret behind his perfectly styled eyebrows, and a lot more.

Here's a look at his responses.

How are you staying entertained during the pause?

Well, I'm trying to stay as entertained as I possibly can with kind of what presents itself. Obviously, we're all stuck at home and doing our part and trying to get through this all together. I got a couple of hoodies that I just tie-dyed, so that's up there for cool things I've done. Also, I'm working out whenever I can. I mean, it's kind of a weird situation right, we've got to try and stay in shape and be ready for whatever the future has in store for us, so keeping busy, watch "Game of Thrones." I think it's like 73 hours or something of TV, watch that in like, I don't know, 17 days, so obviously I'm a big fan of "Game of Thrones" and it was a great way to kill the time. Crazy things I've been doing that I never thought in my life I would ever do, I learned how to knit the other day, so that was fun, interesting, I'm still working on it. Beginner level, for sure.

How's Orion doing?

Orion's doing great. He's actually the happiest guy in the world right now because he gets to spend lots of time with dad. I mean, lots of the time I'm obviously on the road or going to the rink for practice or games, and now I'm at home all day with him. He's wagging his tail pretty much every day. For the last about a week or so, when I got back to Toronto, he's been up at my mom's house hanging out with her. I mean, she loves my dog more than she loves me, so he's getting the same kind of royal treatment.

How do your eyebrows look so good?

My eyebrows, they're a common topic, and the mastermind behind them is just a little bit over there. She does not want to be put on camera right now, but my girlfriend is in charge of these things. If I didn't have her, it would be an absolute disaster, so credit to her. She's in the beauty industry. She's a makeup artist, one of the best in Toronto. She is the best, but she gets mad when I say that, and she does eyebrows, too.

I have Type 1 diabetes myself. How are you handling it during this time?

So how am I handling my day-to-day routine with having Type 1 diabetes and being stuck at home and quarantined and all the stuff? You know what? It's actually been great for my blood sugar in a lot of ways just because I haven't worried about the travel. I'm working out, but not the typical workouts that I'd be doing if I had a gym right now or if I was on a track or on the ice. So my blood sugar's been great, it's been super flat. I've actually come down on my long-lasting insulin quite a bit because I don't need it as much, so that's been good. Eating super clean, pretty light, and staying hydrated, too, so for the most part it's been great. I'm on pen injections. I wear Dexcom. It's on the back of my arm and goes right to my phone, so right now I actually could just swipe over and look at my blood sugar and it kind of gives me trends and all that stuff, so I'm lucky to be set up with the best equipment you can have in Dexcom.

How did you come up with the idea for your book?

So my book's called "No Days Off" and a lot of people were questioning the fact, they're like "Ok, you're 24 years old, like what do you have to write about?" The reason why I wrote a book, honestly, is because I truly enjoy spending a lot of time with certain kids and parents in the Type 1 diabetic community, as I live with Type 1 every day, I know what they're going through. I know what it's like to endure that and still try and accomplish your dreams, so for me, again, I was very lucky to be surrounded with a great family and friends.

What's your go-to pregame pump-up song?

My favorite pregame hype song, anything from Drake, personal favorite, probably "Trophies." I know it's an old one, but it never gets old. It's unbelievable. It gets me going, pretty jacked up.
