Acquired from the New York Islanders on Dec. 28, it didn’t take defenseman, James Wisniewski
long to figure out how to win over the hearts of his new Montreal fan base.
The 27-year-old American met with the media for the first time following his trade on Dec. 30 – the same day the Habs were set to face Guy Boucher and his Tampa Bay Lightning. Wisniewski quickly demonstrated he hadn’t slacked off when it came to doing his French homework, stating, “Je m’appelle James Wisniewski
et je suis très excité de jouer pour les Canadiens de Montréal.”
The next day in Sunrise during a game against the Panthers, Wisniewski notched his first three points as a Canadien, potting the game-winning goal in overtime to elevate the Habs to a 3-2 victory and give his new fans across the border something to cheer about.
