MONTREAL -- Netminder Jaroslav Halak is the Molson Cup Player of the Month for February. It is the first Molson Cup segment win in his career with the Canadiens.
Halak amassed 18 points in Molson Cup standings in February by receiving three first star selections and one second star honour, which represents the highest total of points for a Molson Cup segment this season. He finished ahead of teammates Tomas Plekanec
and Alex Kovalev, who each collected 10 points. Halak ranks third in the Molson Cup overall standings with 29 points, three behind Andrei Kostitsyn and Carey Price
with 32 points each.
Halak registered five wins and two losses in seven games in February (5-2). The Slovak goalkeeper also posted a 2.90 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage with one shutout against the Vancouver Canucks on March 24 at the Bell Centre. Halak is currently on a 4-game winning streak, having allowed only eight goals (1.97) and blocking 159 shots (.952) during that span.
Halak will be presented with the Molson Cup during a pre-game ceremony prior to the game against the Edmonton Oilers, on March 10 at the Bell Centre.
