Habs Notebook

by Staff Writer / Montréal Canadiens
Take a number: Canadiens equipment manager Pierre Gervais will have to wait a little while longer before finally knowing what number to stitch on the back of Alex Tanguay’s Habs jersey. The newly-acquired winger continues to mull over his options, with the only hints about which way he’s leaning stemming from comments he made back in June. Upon being acquired from the Flames, Tanguay revealed the two front runners were No. 13 and 81. Stay tuned…

Peanuts and Crackerjack: The eyes of the entire Canadiens family are zeroed in on Beijing, where Caitlin Lever, the daughter of Hamilton Bulldogs head coach Don Lever, is dominating on the softball diamond with Team Canada at the Olympics. The 24-year-old centerfielder is a sizzling 4-for-5 at the plate on her way  to leading Canada to a perfect 2-0 record. Lever and the Canadian women have five round robin games left until Aug. 18, when the medal round gets underway.

Mark your calendar: For those of you strategically planning your evenings this fall and winter according to when and where the Canadiens are playing, some recent Habs schedule tweaks will certainly interest you. For home games slated for Dec. 4, Dec. 18 and Feb. 19, the puck will drop at 7:00 p.m., while matinees on Super Bowl weekend (Jan. 31 and Feb. 1) will kick off at 2:00 p.m, and the game against the Bruins on Nov. 22 will begin at 7:30 p.m.
